Yeah, a bunch of fireworks we saw at New Years Eve from Victor's grandparents balcony on the 17th floor - notice if you can how close they are to us (people were shooting fireworks right downstairs, so we were eyelevel to them).  For at least one hour straight there were constant fireworks going off EVERYWHERE and even till 3am or so too.  There are firecrackers going off non-stop as well for at least week

June 6 - 8, 2002

A weekend trip to Shanghai with Kai's family - yeah meeting the family =P

Kai's dad had a business trip in Shanghai, so Kai and I flew into town to meet them.  Kai's sister, Kai-Chi, and her boyfriend, Ed, flew in from San Francisco as well.  We went on a few daily tours with other coworkers from Kai's Dad's business trip.  We visited different factories like the carpet factory, pearl factory, and silk factory.  We got to take a boat tour around Shanghai and see the city at night.  We also visited the China Venice, a city of water. 

 

Carpet Factory: How intricate the weave process is. They were really nice and soft. Pearl Factory: Pick-a-boo, there's a pearl in the oyster.

Similar to Venice, Italy but with a lot more merchants on the side and people doing their laundry in the water =P Fight for the fish... Ahhh man, he got it.
Check out the silk worms. Growth process They take the silk from the worms before they hatch. Ladies pulling the silk apart in order to make a blanket
We went to visit  yet another city, but I'm not exactly sure what we were supposed to see =P Just enjoying the view and look at the dragon on the wall.
