Snowboarding season 2005/2006

Off to another season of traveling for wonderful snow and excellent boarding conditions...

Utah

December 9 - 12, 2005 (Board Trip 1, 2, & 3)

Starting the season off right...

Event Staff and I met up at the airport in Salt Lake City late Friday night, picked up our rental car, and headed to the hotel.  The next morning we were up early and off to the mountains!  We ended up getting the early bird ski package for $99/person/night which included room, lift ticket, car rental, breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  It turned out to be a really good deal, but we also had to get the package since we were both flying in so late.  The hotel has an arrangement with Enterprise where we can pick up our rental at a park-n-ride after hours.  This weekend was quite eventful and boarding was just awesome.  There was great snow (at least 115" snow), hardly any crowds (make sure you go on Sundays - the locals are in church =P), and the weather was a clear sunny at least 40 degrees.  It was absolutely nice - each day we got in about 15 runs and these runs are long! Below is an agenda of which resort we went to and how we filled the rest of the time...

SATURDAY

Snowbird (10am - 4pm), dinner at Archibalds, 7 games of bowling

SUNDAY

Brighton (9:30am - 3pm), dinner at Midvale Mining Company, 2 games of bowling, Hooters, and watched Aeon Flux

Check it out - these are pictures from my cell! =)

MONDAY

Solitude (10:30am - 2pm), off to the airport

Tahoe

January 6 - 8, 2006 (Board Trip 4 & 5)

Although I got sick on Friday, right before my flight to Oakland - nothing was going to stop me from snowboarding! Mat and I headed to the airport, had a beer, used my southwest drink coupons for more beers on the plane, and next thing you know - we landed in Oakland. Event staff picked us up and we were off to Tahoe.  Judy and two of her friends met up with us in Tahoe.  This trip turned out to be a bigger trip than originally planned, but it was a great last minute put together =).  Mat's aunt has a cabin near the casinos in Tahoe so we got to stay there for free. The cabin is really really nice - it had 3 bedrooms and 3 levels holding up to at least 20 people (counting floor space).  We're thinking of maybe throwing a New Year's Eve party here - so stay tuned for more information.  Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures from this trip - I just was not in the mood =P.

February 10 - 12, 2006 (Board Trip 8 & 9)

Although I would much rather be boarding in Utah, this was a last minute trip that Alan and I decided to go on.  Judy and a group of her friends were already planning to go, but I took too long to decide so Alan and I got a condo of our own. The snow turned out to be a lot better than I expected - even though a little slushy/icy at top and as the day went on. This trip basically happened because I got a promotion and anticipate that I won't be able to go boarding as often the rest of this season now. =/
